Version v2026.08.14 — Effective August 14, 2026 — Last updated: August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Cinematic Autobiography (“we”, “us”, “our”, or the “Company”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use our website, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data transparently. This policy is designed to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and other applicable data protection laws.
By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use the Service.
The data controller responsible for your personal data is:
Cinematic Autobiography
Real DE/PL public lead intake remains blocked until the approved selling/controller entity and postal contact details are recorded in the launch approval register and published on the live legal surfaces.
Privacy contact: privacy@cinematicautobiography.com
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact our privacy team at the email address above.
We collect different categories of personal data depending on how you interact with the Service:
The current DE/PL public sales inquiry forms do not collect payment method details and do not create a paid order, subscription, invoice, or booking. Payment information is collected only in a separately approved paid order flow.
We use cookies and similar technologies as described in Section 12 and our Cookie Policy.
If you submit a callback, guide, or filmed-conversation form on the Polish or German sales pages, we collect only the information you choose to provide in that form, such as name, email, phone number, country, preferred time window, package interest, consent selections, filming/location address details required by the core filmed conversation request for logistics, and the brief factual context needed to respond to the inquiry.
Public sales leads are stored server-side in Supabase as the durable intake ledger. Internal notifications through Slack or Resend are disabled by default for first-launch sales leads and may run only after founder, counsel, privacy, and provider approval with a minimized-payload proof. Leads are not written directly from the public website into Twenty CRM, Google Workspace, calendars, SMS tools, Stripe, or any AI provider. A future private Twenty import may run only from a local Mac Studio worker and may create draft CRM records for founder review.
Filming/location address details are used only to assess travel, light, logistics, and whether the requested filmed conversation can be planned appropriately. We do not use an address to infer sensitive categories such as health, wealth, political views, religion, or family circumstances.
Under the GDPR, we must have a lawful basis for each type of processing. The table below sets out the lawful basis we rely on for each purpose:
| Processing Purpose | Lawful Basis | GDPR Article |
|---|---|---|
| Account creation and management | Performance of contract | Art. 6(1)(b) |
| Processing interview recordings and creating documentaries | Consent | Art. 6(1)(a) |
| AI-powered transcription, audio enhancement, and story extraction | Consent | Art. 6(1)(a) |
| Payment processing and billing | Performance of contract | Art. 6(1)(b) |
| Public sales inquiries and website-lead response | Legitimate interest in responding to your request, with consent recorded for optional follow-up where required | Art. 6(1)(f) and Art. 6(1)(a) |
| Tax and financial record keeping | Legal obligation | Art. 6(1)(c) |
| Analytics cookies and usage tracking | Consent | Art. 6(1)(a) |
| Essential cookies (authentication, security) | Legitimate interest | Art. 6(1)(f) |
| Fraud prevention and security monitoring | Legitimate interest | Art. 6(1)(f) |
| Service-related email communications | Performance of contract | Art. 6(1)(b) |
| Marketing email communications | Consent | Art. 6(1)(a) |
| Error tracking and service stability | Legitimate interest | Art. 6(1)(f) |
Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at privacy@cinematicautobiography.com or through the relevant settings in the Service. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
Where we rely on legitimate interest, we document the assessment for the relevant processing activity and keep it under review. You may request details of the applicable assessment by contacting us.
We use the personal data we collect to:
We use the following third-party service providers for hosting, storage, notifications, analytics, embedded media, payments, and support. Some providers support the broader documentary service or approved future flows; disabled or pending providers are not used for DE/PL public lead intake until the relevant launch approval, provider proof, and privacy materials are complete. Where a provider processes personal data on our behalf, the relationship must be covered by appropriate contractual safeguards and limited to the purposes described below:
| Processor | Purpose | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database hosting, user authentication, row-level security, and server-side public website lead intake | United States |
| Stripe | Approved payment flows only; not used by current DE/PL public sales inquiry forms | United States |
| Mux | Approved documentary video delivery and playback, not public sales lead intake | United States |
| AssemblyAI | Approved speech-to-text processing of consented interview recordings, not public sales lead intake | United States |
| ElevenLabs | Approved audio enhancement and voice processing after consented project setup, not public sales lead intake | US / EU |
| Vercel | Website hosting, edge deployment, serverless functions | US / EU |
| Cloudflare R2 | Object storage for approved recordings, photos, and media assets, not public sales lead intake | Global |
| Resend | Transactional email only after sender-domain, provider, and privacy approval; disabled by default for first-launch sales leads | United States |
| Slack | Internal notifications only after founder and privacy approval with minimized payloads; disabled by default for first-launch sales leads | United States / Global |
| PostHog | Consent-based product analytics only; public sales form-field contents are not sent to analytics | European Union |
| YouTube / Google | Embedded sales video playback only after embedded-media consent | United States / Global |
| Sentry | Error tracking and application performance monitoring when configured, without public sales form free text | United States |
We do not sell your personal information to any third party. We only share data with processors as necessary to provide the Service and as described in this policy.
Twenty CRM is currently a private, local-only founder CRM hosted on a Mac Studio. It is not a public website processor and is not exposed to the public internet. Sales lead data may be copied into Twenty later only through a local, least-privilege import flow that creates draft records for founder review.
We retain your data only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. The specific retention periods are:
| Data Category | Retention Period |
|---|---|
| Account data (name, email, profile) | Duration of account + 30 days after deletion request |
| Interview recordings and transcripts | Duration of account (deleted upon account closure) |
| Documentary video files | Duration of account (deleted upon account closure) |
| Family tree data and photos | Duration of account (deleted upon account closure) |
| Payment and billing records | 7 years (tax and legal compliance) |
| Analytics data | 26 months |
| Audit and security logs | 3 years |
| Error and crash reports | 90 days |
| Support correspondence | 2 years after resolution |
| Public sales inquiries and website leads | 2 years from submission by default, unless deletion, anonymization, or a documented legal hold applies earlier |
When data is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or anonymized. Account deletion initiates a 30-day grace period during which you may recover your account. After this period, personal data is permanently deleted except where retention is required by law (e.g., payment records for tax compliance).
For unauthenticated public sales leads, a verified deletion request moves the lead into a deletion-requested workflow. Unless a documented legal hold applies, direct identifiers, free-text context, and route metadata are removed or anonymized while non-content audit details such as status timestamps and limited delivery records may be retained to prove that the request was handled. We do not use analytics events or public form responses to expose your contact details or free-text story context.
Following a verified deletion request we remove your data from active systems within 30 days. Copies may persist for a bounded period in encrypted backups (point-in-time recovery and snapshot retention) and with our sub-processors per their agreements before automatic deletion; these backups are never used for any production purpose. Payment records are retained as required by law.
Your personal data may be transferred to, and processed in, countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and the United Kingdom. Many of our third-party processors are based in or operate infrastructure in the United States.
Before a provider is used for personal data outside the EEA/UK, the transfer route must be reviewed and covered by an appropriate safeguard where required, such as:
You may request a copy of the relevant transfer safeguards by contacting us at privacy@cinematicautobiography.com.
If you are located in the EEA or the UK, you have the following rights under the GDPR:
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@cinematicautobiography.com. We will respond within 30 days. If we need additional time, we will inform you within the initial 30-day period and explain the reason for the delay.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority if you believe that our processing of your personal data infringes the GDPR.
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):
To exercise your CCPA/CPRA rights, email us at privacy@cinematicautobiography.com with the subject line “CCPA Request”. We will verify your identity before processing the request and respond within 45 days.
When an interview-recording workflow is explicitly approved and initiated, the Service may process audio and video recordings for the agreed project. That processing may involve:
Face detection or recognition is not part of the first DE/PL sales-lead launch. If a later approved project requires biometric or special-category processing, it must have a separate explicit consent and deletion path before that processing begins.
You may request deletion of recordings or project materials by contacting us. The available action depends on the approved project, legal retention duties, and any active legal hold.
We use cookies and similar technologies in four categories:
We do not use advertising or marketing cookies, and the public sales forms do not send your form-field contents to analytics. For detailed information about the specific cookies we use, please see our Cookie Policy.
You can manage your cookie preferences at any time through the cookie consent banner or your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent the Service from functioning correctly.
The Service is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete that data as soon as possible.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal data without your consent, please contact us at privacy@cinematicautobiography.com.
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data, including:
No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users and relevant supervisory authorities as required by applicable law, within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach where feasible.
In addition to sharing with our processors, we may disclose your personal data:
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not operated by us. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of every site you visit.
Some browsers transmit “Do Not Track” (DNT) signals. Because there is no common industry standard for DNT, we do not currently respond to DNT signals. However, we respect your privacy preferences and provide opt-out mechanisms for analytics tracking through our cookie consent controls and the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, which we do honor.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we make material changes, we will:
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
